BUGGING OUT 101 "PREPPING FOR SURVIVAL OR SURVIVAL HOARDING"?

Sometimes you just have to ask the ovious. "Am I prepping for survival or just being a survival junk hoarder"? We all know that certain someone that has every single piece of survival gear under the sun but, will it have a purpose for survival? Will they have so much stuff that it just becomes a hoarder's paradise? Let's step back and take a hard, long look at this.

The problems that come with to much survival gear.

  • Having to much gear can weight you down, if for some reason you had to travel this could be an issue.

  • To much gear can create clutter and with so much stuff being in your way it could lead to an accidental injury while moving about in the dark.

  • Having tons of survival gear can also make you a prime target to get robbed. Let's face it. At this point in the game you have just became the new corner Quickie Mart for someone else.

The true survivalist is for the most part a minimailist in nature and will only carry what is needed to get the job done. Homemade laundry soap,

bug spray, handmade dog treats and everything else is not survival. It's camping. Everything that you should be concerned with for your survival should fit like a glove into a single backpack. Everyone has different needs for survival, so pack your backpack according to what you have to have to survive.

HOARDER

Start packing your backpack with the 6 C's in mind.

  • Cordage

  • Cover

  • Canteen

  • Cutting

  • Combustion

  • Compass

Once you put all of those into you backpack start thinking about your First-Aid Supplies.

  • Diabetic Medicines

  • Heartburn Medicines

  • Contact Solutions

  • Eye Drops

  • Sanatizer

  • Rubbing Alcohol

  • Pain Meds

  • Antibiotics

Then, if you still have room in your backpack? You should put a change of clothes in there. After you have all of that in your backpack and you still have room? May I suggest leaving that space for items that you may collect along the way of your travels. DON'T OVER THINK IT!
