There are a lot of new people out there in this crazy world, wanting to learn about survival and survivalist training. There are so many new shows on T.V now about survival, that it's hard to digest all of that information without some of it getting lost in translation to the viewer. So here are just a few common sense lessons to get you started in the right direction.

Lesson #1: Some things to remember if there is a large scale disaster.

  • Electricity power grids may fail. So many things that are common day routine may no longer function.

  • Home power, water and sewer will not work.

  • ATM machines won't have power to give you your hard earned cash.

  • Gas station pumps won't have power to pump your gas.

  • Food will begin to spoil and rot in your home.

  • Hospitals will only function until generators fail.

  • Disease will spread throughout the population.

  • 911 service will not be operational.

  • Phones will go dead. This includes cellphone towers.

  • Riots will occure within cities.

  • Stores will be empty of food, survival supplies.

  • Cities will empty out with people attempting to locate food elsewhere.

These events are only a few of so many things that will happen. So take a moment and think about what items you and your family may need to survive such a disaster. Make your plans based on a time scale of months or maybe even years. It's better to be over prepared than under prepared.
